Relationships

When I see happy couples at public places I get sad and mad and jealous because I know I won’t be like them. I have always wanted a relationship but I always ruin it. I have very little hope for the future. I sometimes dream about having a relationship but then wake up and sad. I always wonder is it because of my disability? Is it because I am shy? Is it because I am not fun?

Hi there Annelise:-) Your name is beautiful, btw:) Remember, you can never fail at being you! Ever. It's understandable that you would feel that way, but if we are feeling jealous always now that you too can have the capability of having whatever that is.

Dreaming and visualizing are great tools. Just keep focused on what you want, and gratitude, and it will work wonders.

I just read this amazing blog about self acceptance just now. It has helped me and I think it could help you, too. I'm sure you have many amazing traits to offer this world.

Thank you and I think your name is cool. I agree with you and if you want your dreams to come true it may take many years. I will look into soon.

no problem! I know that because I have seen many people who are at the very bottom but then little by little they reach the top.

Hello, Annalise,

I know of people with disability who enjoy great relationships. It makes love more real when a person sees beyond another person's disability.

But before attracting a good relationship, we need to love ourselves first. So I agree with Jill that we must learn self-acceptance first and be comfortable with our own skin.

You can do it!

That is true. Perhaps it is because society set a certain standard on what should be lovable in a person, and the feeling of not measuring up can be depressing.

It does take a lot of work to love ourselves.

My pleasure.
