Women and Technology

English Translation by community member PilarAlbisu.

In helping women learn to use digital technology, it would really help us to have a learning centre for women so that they may feel these tools with their own hands. They will learn about the use of a computer through doing. Computers will be an integral part of our future.

I would recommend that girls start to attend beginning at age 10, because we do not have the necessary resources to grant access to younger girls. I believe that starting with the above-mentioned age will suit our community. Our women are all behind due to the following reasons: discrimination against women in some of our communities, the fear of being seen as less competent, a lack of means (employment), etc. But with this World Pulse initiative, I’m sure that women will rise above this ignorance, and from now to December 2014, we will overcome the problems that eat away at our women. And I can assure you that these women are already committing themselves, so as to be competitive before this date, even though we only have one learning centre in Bukavu. Thank you and until next time.
