For my love of Women Empowerment I have coordinated, "BoardTalks" women leadership development program initiated by Pakistan Stock Exchange. Presently, like never before, the time has come to return to women leadership activities. These activities had a place and time. Huge numbers of these networks and occasions brought issues to light and perceivability of an undeniable and testing void inside the corporate division and business world at large. Event was attended by young girls, government officials, corporate women and academicians.
Madam Shamshad Akhter first woman Governor of State Bank of Pakistan and Ms. Ameena Saiyid first Pakistani woman to be awarded the Order of the British Empire were the esteemed guest at the occasion.
This session was about the ins and outs of the esteemed guests. Let me share about these two amazing women of Pakistan.
Madam Shamshad Akhter:
Shamshad Akhtar is a Pakistani development economist, diplomat and intellectual who served as the caretaker Finance Minister of Pakistan. Prior to that, she served as the 14th Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, the first woman to assume this position. She also served as a senior adviser to Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon and as Vice-President of the World Bank.
Madam Ameena Saiyid:
Ameena Saiyid OBE is the current managing director of Oxford University Press in Pakistan. She became the head of OUP Pakistan in 1988, becoming the first woman to ever head a multinational company in Pakistan. In 2005, she became the first Pakistani woman to be awarded the Order of the British Empire for her services to women’s rights, education, and intellectual property rights in Pakistan, and to Anglo-Pakistan relations. She is also the founder of the Karachi Literature Festival. In February 2013, she was conferred the prestigious French award of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters for her work in promoting literary culture.
