Change maker Resources

The early morning sun streamed in my room,

I smiled to start the day and to pursue my dreams,

Impact my world is the new song I sing as a young leader.

Scared of how to start, I started to take stalk of what I have as resources.

Good facilitation skills, a conference room to my advantage, few friends in the media, and civil society organizations.

I heard the bird chirping happily at my window still, it’s a new day,

I will match on to achieve my goals.

As, I matched on, I recalled, I told myself the following:

Facilitation skills, I learnt from attending other workshops,

Facilitation skills I learnt from my work as a project officers over the years.

A conference room that will be available to me, that is a free offer from one of my civil society network.

I smiled again, the few friends that I have made from the media and other women focused organizations will always be a support in my advocacy and change maker journey.

I heard the bird chirping happily again! Am all set for work!

Araba- Thank you for sharing your story. I enjoyed reading about how you take inventory and think about the support you have reached through your hard work. I too, enjoy hearing the birds chirping in the morning! Keep marching on!!

Hello Car, I like the poetic way that you write this story! You are light-hearted and happy - I can feel it. You are lucky to have the conference room! Tell me what kind of program are you going to facilitate in this conference room? I wish you well as you proceed in meeting your goals, and hopefully empower other women to develop careers for themselves and their communities.

Thanks WorldCare, we will definately discuss all issues related to the advancement of women and girls. A colleague  offered their conference room for all my meetings if i want to use it.

Am crazy about women and girls having a voice on all issues that concern their development and advancement. i cant just be an observer , i always want to  participate, add my voice  and encourage women  to do same.

Hi Araba

I like the way you have weaved your technique of reassuring yourself that you can do this, that you are confident and have the needed skills and support into a story about waking up and starting you day. It's easy to ready, yet very impactful and will resonate with many I think.

We are often nervous before a presentation and seeing the sun rays, listening to birds chirp as you look inwards to the strength that you have is a beautiful way of doing it.

I would love to hear more about how the presentation went - how did your participants react?
