It's Summer time here in Lagos, Nigeria and we want to make it a memorable time for our girls in Ijegun, a surburb community in Lagos. One Mrs. Edna Agusto recently donated four desktop computers to us at Bestspring Foundation and we have arranged a 7 weeks digital training program for the 35 members of our Girls Arise Initiative, starting from 25th July to 9th September 2016). In addition, Mrs. Agusto also gave us cartons of books (academic & secular) to set up a library where the girls can come and read.
Virtually all the girls are illetrates in the use of computer, partly due to the poverty level of their background and environment. While some of them are orphans and vulnerable children, others are just indigent girls in the community. But they are all excited to learn and be digitally empowered.
Our challenge is that we do not have the funds for running cost. We need a minimum of $200 (Two Hundred Dollars). The program is designed for 7 weeks but already, we have lost 1 week because we did not get the funds to start last week- 25th July 2016.
Incidentally, the girls have been calling and asking when to come and start but we dont have an answer for them. They are idle at this time because many of them cannot afford to travel on vacation or go have some fun.
With $200, we can set in motion the digital empowerment program and give our girls a memorable summer break. Beyond this, at the end of the 7weeks program, those that are of age will be endouraged to register with World Pulse and join our team of change-makers. Our need is urgent. Please help us!
