Palestine, the honorable cause

I wake up in the morning and the first video I watch is a kid telling his martyred father: May God make it easy for you, Dad. Another scene in which the father embraces his son, who is in distress at the loss of the family under the bombardment, with the father’s words saying: “May God compensate my son.” I close the social networking sites and keep the TV broadcasting live what is happening in my country, I wake up every now and then. I see a child, and the doctor says this is the only survivor, and he is the witness to these crimes. I see the body of a child and an elderly face in the features of the child. I try to sleep again as if someone had hit me on the head. I wake up again, watching the child's father saying I lost my wife and my four children, and thank God, my son is five months old is still alive. Thank god. Please pray for them”. He cannot control himself and cries. I try not to watch anything. I remember that since 2000 I stopped watching television because of the scene of the bombing of a Palestinian police headquarters in Jenin that year. I remember experiencing depression and frustration for many years after those scenes. I tell myself I can't. I am part of this people, their blood is my blood, and their wound is mine. I watch TV again, and I watch a parent puts his children in the mortuary. I see a girl being beaten by the occupation soldiers in Jerusalem. Things end with a smile. I feel ashamed when these honorable people do not give me strength. I am Palestinian by blood, lineage and land.  Then, I say, how can I, then, attain the honor of serving my country, so I search for the website of the UNRWA in Gaza and find a way to donate. I share the link on social media, and then I try to sleep with a smile after I say thank God that you gave me the honor to be Palestinian. I grew up with the goodness, blessing and honor of my homeland. I promise myself to keep my smile and I realize that each of us can serve Palestine in their own way, by resisting injustice, patience, supplication, donation, and the spreading the word. It is Palestine, the honorable cause.
