"VOF Week 2: “Banjuka” with World Pulse, Voicing Out Today’s Woman.

Banjuka is a Kenyan word for one to set themselves loose,relax and unwind . Media coverage today has been reduced to the touch of a button from deep in the heart of Kogelo Village in Siaya district where Mama Sarah Obama is, to Washington DC where if the US catches a “cold” the rest of the world is attacked by a serious “flu”. World pulse magazine as well as pulse wire unlike other media are able to bridge the digital divide by innovatively transforming possibilities into reality by sharing with others across the global scene on there views and experience.

Caroline Mutoko of Radio Africa in Kenya and Christiane Amanpour of CNN are the best known journalists in there respective genres. However this great women journalist have greatly impacted my perceptions the world especially those relating to women issues. They both have great social standing in society but have made sacrifices to ensure that the next woman if not person in the world has a better life where they can by initiating charity initiatives.

The result was that which was similar to the embrace that world pulse enjoyed as an entrant in its coverage of global problems providing global solutions from the eyes of a woman. This however required the consideration of every woman, global coverage was thus a prerequisite hence the birth of Pulse wire .Much had to do with today’s techno savvy woman who seeks global networking opportunities, and seriously why would l want to be left behind?

ICCAD(Inter Connect for Change and Development) the local organisation l volunteer for was part of a network of the Young Women’s Leadership Institute in Kenya, with the invitation l couldn’t miss out on this chance. Any regrets……? Not at all if anything it has molded my opinion of life as l empathize with the various issues l see highlighted almost on a daily basis.

They say charity begins at home. Young policy makers like myself play a pivotal role in determining the security of future generations especially in Kenya with issues such as sexual and reproductive rights posing the greatest threat. In the wake of the recently contested elections women were the greatest victims. Sexual and Physical violence was their cross to carry .Revelations can only be made and experiences shared on the global scene through young women leaders who on a daily basis interact particularly with those affected by additionally HIV who daily are stigmatized for their status.

Daily my heart goes out to those daily posted touching stories though l may not be there to comfort, console, wipe a tear or reassure them in any physical way that l can make everything better. I am grateful that Pulse Wire is a constant reminder to them of someone across the globe who innovatively transforms there situation to a positive possibility of courage and beauty shared through digital connections
