My Journey

My hometown is in Lahore that is capital city of the province Punjab, the 14th most populous city in the world. I've one older sister, one older brother and one younger brother. I live in a diverse community from diverse religions and ethnic backgrounds. I completed my studies and earned my master’s degree of Business and Economics from country’s best university, University of the Punjab. I also hold number of professional certifications from renowned institutes.

Child marriage prevalence in society and poor legislative measures to prevent child marriage is a big challenge that my society is facing. In Pakistani society children are considered as a commodity that can be used to boost the economic status of family. Tribal and feudal configuration of society has weakened the legislation and implementation of existing laws. I believe that education is one of the most powerful tools that can delay the age at which girls marry as school attendance helps shift norms around child marriage. To ensure that girls have access to quality education and opportunity to complete educational degrees is a big challenge. I am determine to solve the issue of early child marriages and worst practices against women and children by promoting female education and by developing such models to promote behavioral change among communities and in particular- opinion leaders. In this regard I use to conduct training of local NGOs and community dialogue on birth registration, sale and trafficking, adolescent health, harmful traditional practices and respect for the views of children in different parts of the country. Training for parents, Community outreach workers and networking by local non-governmental organizations are also my working concentration.

I am looking forward to conduct community assessment in different regions to mobilize community and opinion leaders toward ending child marriage. I also want to establish girls’ non formal education schooling to give awareness regarding reproductive health and to strengthen social support. I am supporting local NGOs, government and religious leaders whereas my family and different social workers are my assets in my journey. I need funds to provide economic opportunities to poor families whereas I am looking to enhance my case writing and fund raising skill
