It has been a humbling moment working with my sister. Many sleepless nights, long phone chats ,emails and face booking just to deliberate what next for Kenya.I know she has documented  her work and she has been sharing greatly.Am teaming up with her for this post.Elizabeth, you have been a pillar to lean on in my assignment as an Ambassador.I can not miss to mention your words of wisdom truly i celebrate you as my hero.Thank you.

Elizabeth Ziro is an active volunteer and social rights activist with a strong passion for education and community service.  Having grown up in Kilifi North and experienced firsthand the negative impacts of illiteracy, she saw the urgent need for someone to champion the rights of education for every child in Kilifi County and decided to step in personally and assist vulnerable and disadvantaged students to access and continue with their education.

Through her volunteer work, she became actively engaged in not only her community  but also traveled to other parts of Kenya and got the opportunity to meet and mingle with different kinds of people and in doing so, built strong networks with like minded people. These networks enabled her to set up @smilesofhope, a community based organization working against teenage pregnancy, early marriage, illiteracy and offering educational support to disadvantaged children.

As of Today, @smilesofhope has enrolled children in schools and mentored more than 1000 students in Kilifi County as well as provided school neccesities, initiated libraries and established book drives in primary schools, leaving a positive impact on the lives of many vulnerable students.   Elizabeth holds a strong belief that each person has a skill, knowledge or talent that they can share for the benefit of not only themselves but their communities as a whole. Through her volunteer work,  Elizabeth has been selected as a board member of the @Wings to fly Foundation Scholarship Committee, and is  the chairperson of KSA Kilifi South Constituency. (@Kenya Scouting association)

A firm believer of teamwork, Elizabeth's  passion is to inspire and motivate everyone she meets and to encourage more people to play an active role towards the betterment of the community. While some people may think that volunteering is a waste of time because it does not earn you a pay cheque or give academic benefits,   Elizabeth believes that the benefits of volunteering are so many and could open more doors especially for young  adults. Elizabeth is a married mother of two and is an accountant by profession.

I SALUTE YOU

Elizabeth Ziro,
