About Me

My name is Avera, I am a Cameroonian currently leaving in Addis Ababa – Ethiopia. I am a psychologist, professional teacher and teachers’ trainer.

Professionally I have a varied work experience that includes leadership, being an event/conference organiser, teaching etc. and have worked in both national and international organisations. I have organized conferences for the United Nations Department of Gender in New York; The African Union Commission; The African Development Bank, to name but a few.

Currently, I am the CEO and founder of Green Planet Association, an NGO/non-profit organization in my country Cameroon that caters for Widows and their children as well as school dropouts. This is a project that I conceived in 2004 during my time working as a consultant for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa. Although my vision for this organisation was conceived in 2004 it was not until 2011 that it was actualised due to lack of resources and the fear of failure. After watching one of Oprah Winfrey’s shows, talking on ‘how people limit themselves because they are scared about what others will say about them or how they will be judged’, I decided to give it a try. Since I started, every day gives me a reason to keep going on. In due course, my intension is to expand into other parts of Africa where this practice is prevalent.

My Vision

My vision is to empower the underprivileged the world over (women especially widows and their children) and school dropouts. I believe that it’s only when we all can have equal opportunities that the world would be a better place for us all to live in.

I am very grateful to the opportunity for this platform that World Pulse has given us where our voices can be heard, where we can freely tell our stories and above all where we as women can empower not only ourselves but help in changing the lives of the underprivileged through awareness trainings, economic, health, education issues etc., and network with like-minded women in 190 countries across the globe. Thank you world pulse
