love letter

Dear Mary,

My loves now are a man and a dog. And a land I love - places, people, and this evening, a sinking moon and rain in the air.

I live in Zimbabwe, a wounded country of immense beauty which shelters places with direct access to eternal peace. A land where spirits walk……though conflict and cynicism has forced them underground except in special places where people keep their truth and live in harmony with the earth and all her beings.

The village where I work is such a place, a place of hope and healing.

I am conscious of the cycles in my life, the spiral I am following, coming back to the same place at different levels.

I am the mother of two grown sons, who have taught me how to keep holding while letting go.

I came to Kufunda Village finding a voice of hope, and I find this voice again in Voices of the Future. I hope to better express the stories that I witness every day, stories that speak across what we call nations, and across divides.

I look forward to getting to know each other, to looking into your mirror, seeing the reflection, gauging perspective, and to conversations about the stories we share. Deadlines have been great in helping me focus and helping me finish a piece of writing! I hope you will help keep me on track too! And shine your light – which I feel brightly in your letter.

Jackie – aka ‘Bounce’
