Dedication. Determination. Resilience. Courage. Passion. Leadership.

Maintenance of curiosity, an open mind, and an eagerness to keep learning and exploring, to reach a more comprehensive understanding of the needs and problems of the world.

The will to try your best at everything you do, no matter how insignificant or dull it may be.

The strength to never give up, and the courage to fight for what's right, against all odds.

The character to lead by example and action, to show others what they can do to achieve equality and justice for all.

On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2011, I am reminded of these (and many other) exemplary qualities he possessed, and renew my dedication to try to emulate them in my own life and communities.
