Introduction to PulseWire

Hello Visionary Voices!

World Pulse is honored to welcome you to PulseWire! Founded with the goal of providing an online sanctuary where any woman in the world can have a voice, PulseWire has blossomed into a powerful online community and networking site with over 9,000 members, facilitating communication, resource sharing, and global movement building.

Since World Pulse first introduced the PulseWire platform in 2007, women worldwide have expressed a dramatic shift in their political and social participation since joining. For example, in a recent PulseWire survey, 56% of members have been inspired to take action since joining World Pulse, and one third have volunteered with an organization, joined a planning committee, or pursued a new career or educational path after learning here about an urgent issue. Women’s financial and personal empowerment has also increased – involvement on PulseWire has connected 18% of members to funding or fellowships, and over two thirds have reported they now have a new sense of personal confidence. Women have also been able to expand their visibility and amplify the reach of their voices. Many of the stories featured in our print and online magazine are sourced from PulseWire, and our Voices of Our Future citizen journalism and empowerment training program relies on PulseWire for its programming.

We are excited to work with our partners at the Global Fund for Women, and this dynamic group of women’s media organizations from around the globe – our peers in the movement – to learn how our communications platform can grow to better support global initiatives that strengthen solidarity across the women’s movement to accelerate change.

Along with our Online Community Manager, Jade Frank, I am here to support the technical needs of this group, update you on new features as they are released, alert you to community-wide opportunities and action campaigns, and most of all – ensure this remains a safe and secure space for you to share your voice. We are also here to learn from you as we continually build upon our platform to better facilitate your networking needs, and welcome all questions, needs, or suggestions as they arise. We hope to participate in this group as your tech support, but also as your peers in the women’s movement, and are excited to learn and grow together.

In friendship and solidarity,

Breese McIlvaine
Online Community Associate, World Pulse
