Moving from Pilot to full scalling of Agency Based Empowerment in Nigeria

Agency-based Empowerment Workshop continue to lift women and girls out of poverty and wife battering. We started the scaling pilot of the initiative in Nigeria last year with four Women NGOs. During the training of the NGO's leaders WIDC was able to organize the empowerment workshops for 500 women in Lagos metropolis. 40% of the women were jobless widows, 22% of the women were single teenage mothers, 5% were women and girls with disabilities and the remaining 32% were disenfranchised women and girls facing one challenge or the other. Though the scaling pilot is just rounding up yet we are already seen the results in the lives of the participants. Many of the participants have signed up for skill acquisition training based on their vision during the workshop. Many have started their business no matter how small and their businesses are growing. By the beginning of year 2021 we will move into full scaling and we will be targeting 20 NGOs each year selected in all the six geo-political zones of Nigeria.
