INTERNATIONAL WOMEN DAY: CONFIDENT GIRLS AMBASSADOR SUMMIT

THEME: - WE CHOOSE TO CHALLENGE SEXUAL AND PHYSICAL VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS IN THE POST COVID WORLD.

This summit is to prepare us for the take off of “Confident Girls Club” in secondary schools in Nigeria

Due to the surge in shadow pandemic of sexual and domestic violence in Nigeria, Africa and the world during the COVID 19 pandemic, A lot of Nigerian girls have lost their confidence and have become so disenfranchised to the point of despair. This is because of high level of insecurity facing girls everywhere. They are not safe in the school, on the street and even in the corner of their homes that should be a safe haven for them their lives are seriously threatened.

Women Inspiration Development Center (WIDC) therefore wants to engage and mentor girls in Nigeria primary schools, high schools and Tertiary institutions between ages 9- 25 years. We are planning to inaugurate Confident Girls Club (CGC)in every  school in Nigeria. These girls would be supported through agency-based workshops, weekend learning of coding and robotics, summer camping and entrepreneurial training to find their voices, express their power and live their dreams, a process of self-discovery that will enable them to become agent of change in their schools, community and visionary leaders that hold their communities in their hands. We hope to have volunteer female teachers in each school that would be coordinating the girls.

For this summit we are expecting 2 girls and a female teacher from 30 schools to attend the summit physically while many women and girls will be attending the summit in Nigeria and globally through zoom. Many of our World Pulse Sisters has volunteer to speak on that day and we are hoping that all the participants of the program would join World Pulse as the platform to continue to raise their voices against domestic violence in Nigeria.
