HCL Programme Runs Training on Waterpoint Management

The Hwange Communal Lands Programme under the Africa Centre for Holistic Management is running a three-day capacity building workshop on waterpoint management to enable the programme team to facilitate the setting up of functional waterpoint committees in the Hwange Communal Lands.

The waterpoint management training which runs from 02 to 04 May is being facilitated by the District Development Fund and the Training and Consulting unit for the Africa Centre for Holistic Management.

The training was organized to address numerous waterpoint management challenges that communities participating in the Holistic Land and Livestock Management programme are experiencing.

Reports submitted by the programme team say water related challenges might derail progress in attaining tangible results which come as a result of implementing Holistic Planned Grazing using land management herds.

The workshop will see the programme team learning the importance of waterpoint management committees; how they are elected and the roles and responsibilities of waterpoint management committee members. Participants will also formulate an action plan for training waterpoint committees in the Hwange Communal Lands. The District Development Fund will facilitate these training at community level.

It is hoped that the capacity building training will enable the programme team to give adequate support to waterpoint management activities and enable communities to set up functional waterpoint management committees that can resolve waterpoint challenges faced in communities.
