Improved menstrual hygiene education health for school girls aged 10-19 years, in Bamenda and surrounding villages

CAEPA calls on all shareholders and volunteers to collaborate on a reusable sanitary pad project to be distributed to IDP women and girls in Bamenda Cameroon who have been affected by the ongoing instability in the region and create a co-operative social enterprise that will create employment and skills training for women in the region

Many girls and women in Cameroon do not have access to affordable sanitary pads. Menstrual hygiene management is important cause some trade sex for pads exposing them to early pregnancies, abortions, HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections. Schools lack adequate sanitary and disposal facilities and lack of clean water supply therefore many girls don’t attend school when they are on their menstrual cycle. This impacts their education. Disposable sanitary towels remain costly, inaccessible and environmentally unsustainable. CAEPA believes washable hand made sanitary pads are the solution By keeping a young girl in school
