Changing mindsets to change the community!

Change can be created by anybody, young and old – Change is from one state to another, from what was originally done, to a different way of doing things.
Change can be for an individual, a group, a community. One person can change a community, it all starts with the power of One.
I’d like to see change take place in my community, change such that, all people should not have to go without fresh supply of water, a place that they can call home, access to medicine and never go hungry. Change is improving – change means improvement.
Sometimes we do not have the capacity to make radical changes over night or even over a year, unless we are in positions that allow for these that can take place.
What are the challenges and barriers to bringing change in your community? Why are there barriers – I believe that if one wants change to take place, one wants improvement, they have to do something about it.
The barrier that we have lies within us – it is the fear , the nervousness, the procrastination, the weak mindset, that prevents us to bring changes to our community.
We fear people in higher places, people who have power, we fear change!
It takes one person to start the ball rolling and to make sure it continues to roll – and get bigger – such like a ball of wool/cotton rolling, the more we keep talking about and doing little things to assist in the bigger picture of “change”, more people will see the good of it, and join along, making the ball of wool grow greater and greater.
One great barrier is mindset – this is the biggest thing that needs to be changed. Mindset of each individual – in a country where we have been so adapted to the system of “handouts” , people depend on this in all aspects of their lives. No one wants to do something, unless they are paid, or given something in return or would rather sit back and have it given to them on a plate and when nothing happens, we complain and blame others. This is what needs to be changed – this is the greatest barrier for change.
Thus we need to keep talking, discussing bringing ideas together and then action it – slowly, little by little – to show that yes we can do it! And we can do it on our own and together.
By being part of online communities, where the world is brought closer, we can learn from what others are doing, and see the great change it brings to their communities, and for us to also do it – one thing I have come to learn is people like competition – if they can do it , I can too – this is one way of bringing change – so starts with one person, a group – to do something, create something , that others will see and would like to be a part of and be part of that change.
