My wild life

I've always wanted a wild life. In fact, I've always known I'd never be fully satisfied unless I were living a wild life.

Yet I never really knew exactly what the wild life would look like. I knew it would mean bringing forth my unique gifts and serving the world in some way.

For the past year and a half I've been putting most of my time and energy into bringing a school into my community that focuses on the whole child and is deeply respectful of children. It's been fun, a lot of work and very rewarding. It occupies my mind mostly all the time!

And I wonder- is this a distraction from my wild life or is this it?

I want to do good in my community and I want to escape to the woods and write all day. I have written nearly every day for at least five years. I've filled a shelf full of notebooks, and yet. Yet I won't take my writing life seriously.

For me to actually pick up my writing life- to follow it, no matter where it takes me, no matter how convenient to my life- would be WILD!

Serving my community in whatever projects come my way do not have to be a distraction. I only have to learn to not neglect my writing life. And in fact, I can intertwine the two. Wouldn't that be WILD?
