Women Promoting themselves and each other.

Hi Everyone,

I have not posted anything in a while, however I would like to report back that I graduate with my Master of Agricultural Science from the University of Melbourne this Friday the 12th.

My first reaction ofcourse was that of being humbled and grateful but I thought no...I can not put that on face book or whatever media. The truth though is that for any career to grow one needs to be exposed to potential opportunities for growth. For many women we are shy to sell our skill set to the world but guess what, it only disadvantage us. Once you build a brand for yourself, it will market you itself. Right now I am only a starting my professional journey to make the impact that I want to see but I still need to market myself and advance my knowledge.

I know that many of our cultures have taught us to not be bald and come forward. As a person very respecting of culture myself look for the allies necessary to champion your cause not just from women but also men. The world we live in requires that both men and women come forward to claim roles that will better the world. Please stand up and make yourself counted.

I am not saying be pompous and arrogant, but find smart ways to get the word out about what you are doing. Some people say that work done and not reported or published is as good as no work done. Appreciate and celebrate the achievements you make through hard work. For me..I will celebrate any woman who is making a contribution in their own way to a better world. I will share their achievement on twitter, facebook and where ever else I can because that is how proud I am to be a woman and how much more I am proud of women who stand up and get counted.

Keep pushing for an education and also to inspire others in your communities....finally please market yourselves, sharpen your resumes and get that job you know will create the impact you dreamed to achieve.
