Introducing myself

So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-sleep, even they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning. From the book of Mitch Albom title Tuesday with Morrie.

I have no idea about this organization the World Pulse. Until one day, I'm searching for the school that offered online study, then suddenly World Pulse page appeared on screen, out of curiosity I open the page and read the stories posted.I was amazed that there is organization online that empowered women.Continuing reading the stories, give me information and awareness what happening around the world especially the issue about women. There are things that I never imagine that this things happened to other women .

World Pulse is the place where women can tell there stories and traumatic experiences, where no one judge them base on religion, culture and race.Place where we can find a true bother and sister who can understand, motivate, inspired, and support us to pursue what we want to change in our community.

I'm living outside my country,I don't know how to help other women in my community. Since I joined this Intro to Digital Empowerment training, give me an idea using technology like facebook and Twitter to connect women in my community and other women from my country who working abroad like me.I introduced them the World Pulse.Listen from their problem and concern, especially those women who experienced physical and mentally abused by their employer.

I can't forget my neighbor, one Filipino girl who abused by her employer. She have no enough sleep and food . Until came to the point she eat a dog food. She cannot use the phone, the employer don't allow her to talk to other people. But God is always good, one day she throw the garbage outside and I was there sweeping the driveway. I approach her, but she's scared to talk with me because if the employer will caught her talking to someone, she have no dinner that night. But I really desperately to help her . She lost her weight since the first time I saw her.I know that there's something wrong or she have a problem. I told her dont be scared, Im here to help you, tell me what I can do for you . Then she hug me and started to cry.But that time we have no enough time to talk, so I told her to make a letter to me, write all your problem so that I can report to the Philippine embassy. But she scared again, to lost her job, she's a single mom of 5kids.I said "don't be scared, we are fighting for your right, a lot of people in Philippine embassy will help you.All you need to do is to say all this things honestly. And don't worry about the money because your employer will pay a compensation to you, and that is good enough for you to start a small business in Philippines"After a week when I reported to the Philippine embassy about her situation, they rescued her, file the case against the employer. One month after I received a call from her saying that she went back home in the Philippines. And starting her small business.I can hear the happiness from her voice.Im happy for her.

There a million of Filipino working abroad experienced different kind of discrimination and abused. Some experienced raped and the very sad moment is when they going back home inside the casket. Poverty is the only thing who push us to take a risk to work abroad.I hope the government will give more job, increase in minimum wage. And have affordable education especially in college.

Hi Champagne,

I have watched a lot of soap operas from Phillipines, but they do not show the side of Phillipines that you just gave a glimpse of. I had no idea......thank you for giving me a glimpse of the other side of Philippines.

What you did for your friend/neighbour is very commendable and brave. Thank you.

It is very encouraging for one to have someone who cares esepecially in a foreign country.

Claudia.

Dear Champagne,

First off, I want to thank you for sharing your story. You inspired me as a new member of World Pulse to take action and truly empower women as you did with the woman in your story. The quote you used is a perfect demonstration of why there is always happiness to be found in this would, despite some terrible conditions and circumstances. As long as we find as we find a way to meaningfully connect to our community (including our family, our local community, and our world community), then we will always have purpose in our lives.

As a community here on World Pulse, I hope that we can help you achieve your goal to provide assistance to people who have experienced abuse in your home country. The power of this introduction was so strong -- I can see that you have and will continue to inspire many other people around the world.

Best of wishes,

Kendra
