COVID 19 and it's Challenges

Posted March 30, 2020 from Nigeria

Yes, they say we should stay at home, maintain social distance etc. What have they done for us to stay home. Salaries not paid, hunger is the order of the day.

Children eat more when they stay indoors.  The poor, less privileged is left to suffer in the country.

My heart goes to those who depend on their daily hustle to survive.

My heart goes to that woman who hawk daily to feed her children.

My heart goes to the bricklayers who depend on what they do daily to feed their families.

My heart goes to those who depend on daily paid job to survive.

I encourage women to keep safe and their children because the Elite in my country have no plans for the poor.

I urge all women to stay safe, try all means  and make sure you can provide for your wards.

I will leave you with this quote.

"Health is the greatest gift, contentment is the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best.

This story was submitted in response to Dispatches from the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Hi Chidimma,

How are you doing, dear? Thanks for sharing your empathetic, and very real post. I agree, and your quote is most fitting for this challenging time.

I hope you and your family are safe and well.

Hello, dear sister,

I hear you. I feel the say way as I think about those who lost their jobs and sources of income during this lockdowm season. No one is prepared for this. I hope our resilience will arise.

Please keep us updated on your situation here. This is the best time to check on each other. Thank God we can still access technology. Let's utilize it more than ever.

Please stay safe, too!

Chidimma Hi :) thank you for sending your encouragement to women in your community. My heart goes also to those who don't have means or resources for their daily needs.

You are not alone, we heal as one!

Thanks Chidima for sharing . I agree with you but also think of the quote that says HEALTH IS WEALTH . it is better for the poor to stay home and manage the little they have than to go out there to hustle and contract a virus that will bring them nothing but untold sufferings and death

Dear Chidima,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. In some African countries, the lockdowns are having a negative impact on the lives of women and their children.

It is important that women stay home because this is the only way that they can save their lives and that of their children, but we need to help them with food.
I wish there was a way of getting food to the women and children in our communities!
