Creating Room for more voices at the table!

I am pleased to submit my application to World Pulse in response to the current opening for the community board member position. It would certainly be a privilege and an honor for me to have an opportunity to serve as a champion and board member for this great and dynamic organization whose mission and vision I hold dear to my heart. I don’t know of any other organization or social media network that has been able to create an authentic platform for connecting women worldwide as World Pulse has done. To me the authenticity of this organization makes me feel at home on Pulse Wire—a feeling that I don’t usually get from other social media networks—through Pulse Wire, I have been able to create lasting relationships that have been instrumental in our work in the DR Congo. As some of you might recall, two and half years ago, I won the PulseWire Bold Ideas Contest and I received three free leadership coaching sessions from an expert in the field. Little did I know that these coaching sessions will be the beginning of a beautiful journey that would provide opportunities to women in the DR Congo to find their voices and reclaim their power within. I remember the day, when I received the first phone call from Carol, my coach and now mentor, It felt as if it was a reunion of two sisters who were separated at birth—it felt as we had known each other for a lifetime. After I shared my dreams and aspiration with Carol, she introduced me to Rebellious Dreamers, an organization that she and other women started to help women achieve their dreams. My connection to Rebellious Dreamers has been the most beautiful thing to have happened to First Step Initiative and I would always remain grateful to World Pulse for opening up this opportunity for us and I know that many more members of this community are connecting with one another on deeper levels as I have.
As a potential board member, I hope to be a bridge by which the voices of the women in the global south (our unsung heroes), could be heard and included at the decision-making table. I would work to be a champion for our collective causes and as a team member I will work with everyone to further the mission and goals of this wonderful organization. I look forward to the opportunity to being considered for this position.
