No One Told Me : My Peri Menopause Journey (1/2)

When I clocked 38 little did I know that I had entered another phase in my life. I began to experience irregular periods and on three different occasions I went for scan thinking I was pregnant .All tests came back - negative!

After a while other symptoms began to show up like insomnia, heart palpitations  night sweats, hot flash, ringing in the ear to mention but a few.

Confused, I began to research as all the doctors could tell me was: I was having hormonal imbalance ..Then boom! I found out there was a phase called Peri Menopause in every woman's life.

I wrote a handbook based on my experience and began teaching women on the signs and symptoms of this phase.

Currently am working on making the book into a documentary using animation for wider reach in my country and beyond.

This story was submitted in response to The Real Me.

Thanks Sis@Edith! It will be my pleasure sharing my experience both personal and from women's feed back each time I go out to teach. It's been three good years of exposing the symptoms of Peri Menopause to women in my country and am not afraid to launch out because it's am every woman thing. My driving passion is to see more and more women educated on what to expect from their bodies beginning from their late 30s and for some early or mid 40s thereby reducing the high level of mis diagnosis and misconceptions.
I look forward to working with women across the globe in translating my handbook into many world languages to teach more women.
Am open to collaboration not in the documentary using animation for wider reach and the translation of my handbook.

Hi Chy,

Welcome to World Pulse! Thanks for sharing your first post. It's great to hear that you wrote a handbook on a underplayed topic such as peri-menopause. I started experiencing these symptoms a couple of years ago and didn't know much, if anything, about it and was surprised to experience them. Is your handbook on Amazon or something you only distribute to certain students or women? I'm looking forward to hearing more about your work and documentary.

P.S. You will want to use the back arrow to respond to sisters that have commented so they get an automated email notification alerting them to your response, otherwise they won't know unless they revisit your post.

Hope you're doing well and having a great weekend:-)
