The Need For A Skill.

In 2020 job failed!

Yes, job failed many due to the pandemic. Many breadwinners of households lost their jobs. And some few lucky ones had their salaries slashed.

The world had to embrace the 'new normal' which included being indoors for weeks and even months without a job.

Many could barely eat and only God can tell how many others survived till date.

The pandemic hasnt left us and even in my dear country Nigeria where we have been blessed with low number of infected people has suddenly began to experience a spike.

The fears of catching the deadly virus is hitting many anew.

Off all that happened, one thing was standing tall and that was Skills.

People with skills survived where many were laid off

Many only needed to move shops to the online spaces and had the logistics company deliver to their customers.

Today, not so much has changed. And like i did last year just before the lockdown i have assenbled a couple of women  with vasertile skills to teach others so they too can learn and stay afloat in this unpredictable times.

Its a two day online skills acquisition program on how to make salads, paifait, spices for cooking , perfumes and tie and dye .This will help some interested women and girls pick up a skill. After the training, they can ask for a Masterclass. And with a token for the facilitators. Anyone can join from anywhere because its online.

No woman should be left idle at these uncertain times

Time to pick up a new skill and get established.

Let us join hands together to defeminize poverty in our society.

The virus is still there. Our life and practice has been changed under the pandemic situation. It may need some new skills in the exception circumstances. The training program is useful and essential to help the women and girls to pick new skills.
Please keep the meaningful work on! May Almighty God bless you all!

Dear Chinyere,
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You have spoken not only for Nigeria, but for the world. What you have stated is happening right here in the USA as well. Many people, especially women are marginalized, but are fronting that they are fine and working from home on zoom. There is a lot of fronting going on. Pretending that all is well, and we are all at home in a pandemic on Zoom meetings for our jobs. There is almost no conversation of the real state of affairs. The truths are broadcasted on the networks with the statistics, but not much conversation amongst real people. Most of us are online, learning new skills and trying to deal with children's Zoom schedules for school, and trying to stay sane. I am so relieved to hear a sister finally speak out about what is really going on with a major global population. You are refreshing! And thank you again.
Hugs...JoMarie.

Hello Chinyere,
Good on you for stepping up to meet this growing, unacknowledged need! May many women rise up from poverty of pocket, purpose, and worth as they learn these skills and put them to work.
That is an excellent initiative.
All the best for the training!

Dear Chinyere,
What a great plan. I hope many women can make use of what you are offering. Thank you too, for putting it out there that women in particular are losing work, and having to scramble. All the best with this. "Get a skill and stay afloat". What a great call out.

Kudos to you, dear Chy, for teaching women skills! Indeed, we all need to level up because "good" is the enemy of "great". May your trainees acquire jobs, if not, create their own business to create jobs. JoMarie shares about kiva.org that lends loans to women. I hope you can explore that opportunity because someone in your team might have a great business idea worth investing in!
