Story
Greetings to all my World Pulse leaders and sisters across the world, I hope this message reaches you in good faith.
On behalf of my team and the children, I'm reaching out to you all to inform you that my team at Future Leaders Initiative SL have been working on a project titled 'Pens Up Canes Down' for over four months now.
The initiative aimed at ending all forms of violence against children especially corporal punishment in all learning settings by providing effective alternatives to corporal punishment booklets to schools, parents, organise polite parenting community workshops, engage young people through poetry, essay, artwork and debate competition to raise awareness on the issue of corporal punishment, its physical, emotional and psychological effects on children.
This project is very close to my heart because I don't want to see any child experience any form of corporal punishment or child abuse the way I did. I envision creating a world free from all forms of violence against children.
So, in this year when school resumes in September, my team at (Future Leaders Initiative SL) and I are trying to stage a national poetry and essay writing competition on the theme 'Corporal Punishment Should Be Prohibited in All Schools' for school pupils, from ages as young as 10 to as old as 27 years.
We're raising funds on GofundMe to run the above mentioned competition. Here's the GoFundMe link https://gofund.me/87e2184c
If you could support our GoFundMe by making a donation or sharing it with your network, I would greatly appreciate it. I know that money can be tight, so please know that even $5 helps me get closer to our target. Let end violence against children together, Yes it is Possible!
Much love from me, my team and the children.
