HONOUR HER

I shall never back off to protect and prevent rapist from terrorising and pressuring the future of our women and girls until they [rapist themselves] back off completely. I know financially I am extremely weak to fight them in court because they have people who go ad bail them out, but I will use my voice and writing skills peacefully to reach out where freedom could be found for our future. on the 16th of July, I joined other colleagues who formed an initiative called 'Men's Up' for the purpose of protecting our young girls. Thanks to them it was a historic venture in the history of Sierra Leone youths.

Dear Ibrahim,
I had goosebumps reading your powerful statement "I shall never back off to protect and prevent rapist from terrorising and pressuring the future of our women and girls". It is stated with conviction that I can almost hear you saying it. What does it take for abusive boys and men to realize that it is not manly to abuse girls? What does your law says about rape? Is it considered a heinous crime? It is important to check the law and amend it if it is too relaxed for rapists. Make it unbailable so they will be imprisoned for life.
Write more.
Cheers from the Philippines.

Greetings to you Ma, thank you for commenting on my story. I must confess to you that Sierra Leone is no more like yesterday, Sierra Leone is no more silent, the people are no more silent everyone is up now to speak out their anger against all forms of sexual violence on women, girls, and boys. The law is not slumbering anymore and so its people. We are leaving no one behind when it comes to protection, both women, girls, boys, and men are all important in society. We know women and girls are the most vulnerable people in society when it comes to sexual violence but that doesn't mean boys are not victims, they are victims of rape too so as an activist, I am doing my best to play a part in fighting against this virus culture of rape. My organisation Future Leaders Initiative SL which focuses on protecting the rights of youths, women, children of all gender is working tirelessly in making sure we create a safer place for all. My team is carrying on a six months community anti-rape project and this project has three phases, we just ended the first phases which are community schools awareness-raising on rape, ending violence against children at homes, and in schools. The next two phases are organising a Parents2Parents community group and the Children2Children group as well. So far, I and my team is doing its best regardless of the challenges we faced when it comes to funding but we will never back off from this fight, I want to do more but lack of support is slowing my dream down but I will never back off from this fight, it is a promise I have made.
