No parent can be an expert on all aspects of child development or on the most effective ways to support a child at every age.Every year April , the UN and other partners choose to recognise this month as the National Child Abuse Prevention Month to wholeheartedly recognise the importance of families and communities working together to strengthen and to prevent child abuse and neglect. Through this collaboration, prevention services and supports help protect children and produce thriving families. This event is a call to action. We want young people, leaders ,community stakeholders and parents to have the necessary preventive skills to protect their children from all forms of abuse.

#FutureLeadersInitiativeSL is working towards this drive and on the 15th of April this year, in partnership with We Yone Child Foundation, Stop It Sierra Leone, End Violence Against Children, and other organisation, we will be hosting a webinar on the topic ‘Child Sexual Abuse and Prevention’. I am pleased to invite all sisters from WORLD PLUS to come as participants or as guest speakers. We want to hear your voices and learn from you how can the world best protect and prevent children from all forms of sexual abuse.  If you want to come as a speaker please feel free to email me [email protected] or give me a ping on WhatsApp +23299853572 let me save your information.  You can also use the link below to register your interest. Looking forward to hearing from my sisters, mothers and friends from this GREAT family.

Hello Ibrahim,
That is meeting such an important need in helping parents and carers access the information/ knowledge they need to keep their girls safer both in real life and online. Good one! I am not able to commit to anything at the moment due to various unpredictable transitions, but I wish you all the best in finding speakers and spreading this needful message.

Ha, yes, it has proved a busy start to the year and I am not on World Pulse as much as I would like to be. I am glad you feel encouraged to keep going, because I have this saying that 'if you want change in the West, change the policies/law. But if you want change in Africa, change the culture.' And what you are doing is exactly that, changing cultural perceptions through awareness and education. So please keep going!!

P.S. Every time I see your name I think of this Ballerina ..... https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/against-all-odds-ballerina-michaela-...

This is beautiful! Thanks for sharing with me Michaela's story. I wish I could email her because she needs to be celebrated for fighting against all those odds.
