Power of Suggestion

I am reading a lot of non-fiction on women and rights, empowerment and guides on how to be engaged in theissues about women. There are so much to learn, so much to do and so so much to hope on the subject and I don’t think it would ease up soon because of the challenges many women face around the world on top of the many social issues our generation has to contest with to live “the beautiful life”.

I always believe in freedom – thoughts, speech, expression and actions. And I am grateful I was born in a country and in a family where I wasgiven opportunitiesto explore who I want to beand developed into someone who does not allow others to tell me who I am not. To be friends with women around the world that are their own person worth emulating. But I am far from perfect nor have some big achievements tucked in my belt but I don’t need that to be empowered to beenjoying the life I know I deserve —thus the quote I coined for this post.

I think and feel that a lot of women who are in difficult situation are victim of circumstances. Nobody wants to be born in an oppressive community or in a “crazy” family who value more their morality over the lives of women. But I believe in the power of suggestion — that if we keep on telling ourselves we can do something good and positive it will eventually happen and if all women come to an agreement to try andsuggest to their own psyche that they are not different from their counterpart or that they not below anyone, one day it will become normal to think that there is no superior race or gender or religion or color instead there will only be one next to each other.

I make it sound easy right? but actually it is not because dealing with our own self is a struggle in itself and if we cannot convince ourselves we are what we say we are then how can we convince those around us.
