submerged in water

Rain season is always associated with farming and admired for its green pastures and blossom of flowers. But this is not the case not the case in most parts of Zambia particularly Lusaka this year as most houses have been submerged in water.

Hundreds of residents especially in highly populated compounds of Lusaka are affected by the continuous rains. In these areas most pit-tratines used as toilets are fall of water due to the rains. This disaster here have caused a lot of concerns to the residents as more then five lives have been lost as a result of drowning. Some people have resorted to using plastic bags and buckets to answer the call of nature.

Most of the highly residential areas formally known as compounds have poor infrastructure and poor or lack of drainages system.

Few weeks ago the government informed the affected residents that they will be evacuated to another area. And the affected residents have called on government to hasten in assisting them as the fear of diseases such as cholera and dysentery may emerge.
