Actions Speak Louder Than Words When Words are Heard

Happy New Year to everyone in the PulseWire community! This year I didn't make any resolutions, or go to the extreme of setting any unrealistic goals for myself. Instead, I will rely on my actions to be my guide. The year 2012 is sure to bring changes to humanity that have been un-witnessed in history. Despite much more work needed to be done, and miles of emotional terrain in our paths, the journey has begun.

In my ignorance and education, I have been blessed with being enlightened through a combination of observation and activism, mixed with a little discernment and quietism. What I mean by this is, it is not always necessary for me to speak out on the issues we all face as people; as a global community. Sometimes we/I must take things in, absorb the nutrients, digest them, and project them into the world in the form of actions. Most of our efforts are more effective when the things we intake are properly consumed, and processed with great mastication.

I have personally learned that progress and results are sculpted rather than scribbled. The last nine-twelve months- being engaged in a community primarily shared with women, has opened my eyes to how society shapes men to be dominate. The way men and women are treated differently from birth, throughout the teen years, and well into adulthood, seems to be a natural phenomenon that we as a universal culture pay little or no attention. It shouldn't take participating in a \"community of women\" to open our eyes and notice that we (men) are instinctively misogynistic. If I have to resolve, my goal will be to pay more attention to such traits in myself.

My goal has never been to receive recognition, popularity, or accolades, for my activism. As a matter-of-fact, I typically shun the spotlight. Putting the well-being of others first, or at least equally with my own, is a family value. World Pulse is my extended family. I am grateful and appreciative for being welcomed into this strong, and often intimidating community of women from diverse backgrounds. Just reading the stories, experiences, and determination of our members encourages me to keep going. Although I have spent the last few months focusing primarily on the projects of Eway Foundation, I watch and learn from just a short distance away.

It is an honor for me to be recognized as a Vocal Contributor, and to be considered a \"welcomer\". I am humbled, and admit that I smirked a little -because it feels so good to be loved. I also took the gesture as a subtle reminder to \"stay active\", and keep pushing on. I hear the stories and cries of men, women, and children around the world. The sounds that are made compose a song. The song I sing is in a rhythm that is sung by few, however can be heard by many. With the voices of this boisterous ensemble, the world is sure to hear the words; and perhaps sing along. In our actions we produce immediate results, although some of us might not hear the applause from the audience. In the meantime, we commit through our actions to speak a language all can understand. Throughout the history of humanity one thing seems to hold true and consistent.....Actions speak louder than words.
