Training on Empowering Women.

I envision a society that will have bold, independent and powerful women; women who will be treated equal to men.

 When we shall be happy together as there will be no created differences to make women look less, weak and incapable.

A time when girls and women will be free, free to walk around, stand up, sit and occupy their own space without male interference.

When female will be alone and no male will feel a compulsion to offer company. When we shall be left to be and choose what we want in and for the society.

When my sisters all over the world will have the opportunity to be, decide, live, laugh, enjoy, talk, have big jobs, own big cars, houses, get solutions to problems without male influences.

When sisterhood will speak up, be visible and be looked upon by society.

How can we achieve the above?

My thinking, females have to be financially able. As women all over the world we need to come together, pull and pool our resources to help and empower each other for us to make an impact in the world and make the world a better place to be.

As a leader in my community, I have purposed to bring women together so that we can learn from each other, encourage and offer morale support as we work on our enterprises to be financially stable and independent.

To celebrate international women`s day, we organized for a training on empowering women entrepreneurs on 27th march, 2019. The training session was so interactive and educative where each one of us learnt something as the women were doing different types of business. Examples of the businesses being undertaken are agribusiness, poultry, dairy, catering, pottery, herbal medicines, bead work and table banking.

As part of the training, we reminded ourselves why we started our businesses/ enterprises, one thing was common, we wanted to be empowered and stand on our own without depending on men.  Stories were narrated of how a husband would refuse to support a non working wife, neglect his family, become cruel and all these led  us feeling the need and desire to be financially independent to avoid being treated badly.  I was motivated as I listened to the women narrate their stories and I could feel the strong urge from the attendees on their desire to succeed and be financially independent. With this spirit, I saw a very bright future for women and the world at large.

Among the fifteen women that we trained, we learnt and heard of very successful stories; how from business, women were able to educate their children, provide daily requirements and even be able to put up decent and permanent houses. Those who were new to business were encouraged to keep going on as it is the way to financial freedom. Financial freedom to a woman comes with many privileges as you are able to make decisions in your life and your family`s life.

I strongly believe that for sisterhood to be respected we all need to work towards financial independence.  In all our capacities we should strive to empower women. An empowered woman leads to an empowered society.
