Dehradun: In the webinar organized by Sanjay Orthopedic, Spine & Maternity Centre, Jakhan, Dehradun, President awardee Dr. Sujata Sanjay, gynaecologist gave important information about nutritious and balanced diet during pregnancy, in this public awareness lecture 175 nursing students and adolescent girls from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himanchal Pradesh participated. Pregnancy is the most important part of a woman's life and you have to follow a lot of guidelines during this time. Pregnancy is the time when a lot of physical changes start happening inside you and during this time you have to face many things like hormonal changes, mood swings, appetite and metabolism etc. Most women feel nauseated during pregnancy, which affects their diet and health. Dr. Sujata told that, if a pregnant woman does not get nutritious and balanced diet during pregnancy, then her unborn baby will also not be able to develop adequately. A normal woman usually requires 1900 calories, while pregnancy requires 3200 calories. The diet should be rich in nutrients. The diet of pregnant should be such that all the elements of nutrition are present. Raw fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds should be in sufficient quantity in the diet of pregnant. Sujata Sanjay, Gynecologist & Obstetrician at Sanjay Orthopedic, Spine and Maternity Centre, said, \"Corona virus has taken the form of a pandemic these days globally. It has become a big challenge. In such a situation, pregnant women should take care of themselves with caution. Corona virus will stay away from them by taking nutritious food. Pregnant women may be at increased risk of certain infections due to changes in their bodies. However, there is no scientific evidence that pregnant women are more likely to get sick from COVID-19 than the general public. Dr. Sujata told that, during pregnancy, women should consume a balanced diet by including carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, high fibber and minerals etc. in their diet. Along with this, foods that increase immunity such as foods containing vitamin C, walnuts, almonds, super foods like turmeric, ginger, garlic etc. should be consumed. Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before using them. It is very important for pregnant women to improve their diet. For this, she can include things like green vegetables, milk, fruits and pulses in her diet. Eat well and be healthy. He told that only iodized salt should be used in the food so that the pregnant and their child can have proper mental and physical development. Iodine deficiency can lead to mental retardation. Do not stay empty stomach for a long time in pregnancy. Take light and easily digestible food four to five times a day in the required quantity. Pregnant women should pay close attention to personal cleanliness. Cut your nails on time so that dirt does not accumulate in them. Pregnant women should do 20-25 minutes of yoga daily or simple indoor stretching exercises or simple yoga exercises. Drink more and more water; drink at least 7 to 8 glasses of water every day. So that your body stays hydrated. It is better if pregnant women boil water and drink it. Dr. Sujata said, in the first trimester, three meals should be taken with nutritious breakfast. Also, one tablet of folic acid of 5 mg should be taken daily. Do not take iron, calcium or any other medicine in the first trimester. In the second and third trimester, three meals should be taken with two nutritious snacks. Also, one tablet of iron folic acid (IFA) should be taken daily, which should be continued for a few months after delivery. In the second and third trimester, two calcium tablets should be taken regularly after meals. Iron and calcium should not be taken together. Take special care of your daily routine. Sleep on time and get up on time. Morning sickness is a common problem during pregnancy. Make sure to drink a glass of cow's milk after waking up in the morning, as it helps in relieving morning sickness. You can also drink a glass of coconut milk or lemonade as it helps in reducing constipation and heartburn.
