Why Women Need Help?

The topic about violence against women remind me about a day when I went to slum area in Chittagong near railroad, to study about regional family economy. The information that I got is not only their income but also their situation as slum people. Some of them live in 2 square meters with 5 to 8 members. These people do not have access to clean water and sanitation.

When my group asked about violence, no one wanted to say about it because they think that it is embarrasing to open a talk about violence againt women. However, I convinced one girls who just only told that she did not want to go to school because on the way it every dangerious. There always men on the way waited to chase after girls. Although I did not get specific inforamation, I could conclude that violence agianst women is there, in this moment. This will cause a great problem in the future if the girls cannot go to school because of scarity. These girls will be sufferd just like their mothers.

I also learnt one thing from an old woman lives in a neat small house. She does not expect any one help her, but she is very disappointed that people come only to see the situation the area. Those people said that they will help them, but hope becomes hopeless. This is life as a slum person. She want her children get education like other children, but she doesn't have money and the school far from her home even the way to the school also is not safe. She cannot allow her daughter go there. She mentions that the value of education is not equal to her docter. She can live without education, but she cannot live without her daughter.

According to the woman words, I feel like I am also one of the people who just only see their situation. There is nothing that I can help. What I can do as a student is posting this peice of writing. I hope one day their will be an action instead of saying like this. I want those people have comfortable lives. I believe that if the women have high education they can have better lives.

I took one photo with a girl in slum area. She stands on the left side of mine. Her goal to be a doctor, so that she can take care of people in her area. She is very shine; I like her.
