My Journey

I was born in a small village in Botswana and raised by my grand-mother because my mother was working in Johannesburg as a maid. I was staying with my sister and my grandmother. She was actually rich by the standards of those times. We had many chickens, cows, goats and sheep. Because there were no boys at home, we were responsible for the small livestock. When we come from school we would do homework and later made sure they are in their kraals. It was such an experience. This went for years; I finished my primary education, junior secondary and senior secondary schools. But during these times I was raised by 2 powerful and hard working women. Whom I believe had so much bravery. We never went to bed without food, never went to school without full school uniform or even got cold at winter. These women were rocks in my life, and still are.

I passed all my grades and went to pursue Diploma in Highway Engineering, which got me a job at 23 years. I became independent immediately and moved out of my mother’s house when I was 25 years old. I was in the engineering industry for 8 years when recession hit very hard meaning no more projects and no job. I was retrenched and because I already had a daughter it meant I have to stand up and made sure she doesn’t sleep on empty stomach.

That’s when I started my business which is supplying Corporate Gifts and Promotional Items. It was difficult for first year just like any other business, but I didn’t give up. After few years I opened a shop which was later closed because of low business. I concentrated on the Promotional Items which is still running but 2 years ago I made a decision that it’s time to change my career from engineering to consulting. I choose Life and Career Coaching as a path that now I am following. My reasons being I was already one to people around me. And it naturally felt like a calling to be helping other people to achieve what they want in their lives and careers.

I joined COMENSA (Coaches and Mentors of South Africa) as an associate coach just to know how it works and all the dynamics. Then I decided to do a course towards this, I started with Career Coaching Certificate which I passed. I registered my company last year as well. I am very proud of my journey because I didn’t give up as hard as life could get and I know that it will not be easy to achieve all that I want to do. But my perseverance and faith in myself and God had taken me to be where I am.

My plans are to finish the Life Coaching Training as well though I have already started the Coaching business. And continue with my education to Executive Management and MBA. I want to change so many people’s lives and make a better living for everyone I come across.
