gullible american investors

I listened to BBC on my radio and i heard them talking about a man named Bernard Made-off (at least that is what it sounded like to me)who "made-off" with quite a number of peoples investments. The man's name should have given them (the investors) a clue to his real nature (did we not discuss something about the significance of names recently?). If only they thought of how his name sounds they would not have trusted him with their money.He was only being true to his identity.
