My Personal Assets Map

This girl's got assets!

Today I am grateful for all the personal and community assets available to me. Completing the assets mapping exercise was extremely valuable. It is amazing, the personal resources that I bring to the table and those available within my community to move me in the direction I need to go.

It gives me great pleasure to share the following personal and community dream that is motivating me. It is so important to build strong, loving families that include economically independent women regardless of the social strata or culture the woman belongs to or the continent on which she lives. This dream is both for me personally and community I live in (and the dream I have for the world of women).

The skills I have to realize this dream, and of which I am most proud, include my ability to function fluently in English and Spanish, besides my native English Kriol language. I am very proud of my formal education training that reached the highest academic level in health and human services specialization. While these skills can help me address the issues I am most passionate about, empowering women for economic independence, they help me to navigate the multiple sources using the worldwide web and other technology in more than one language.

I can use these skills to make better use of asking for help beyond those in my community. I can use both language skills and formal academic training to engage more actively with others to seek out support and assistance. In short, I can use these skills to ask others for the help I need personally and for my community in moving forward. Already I have heard some positive feedback through posts and I can use my skill to build the network. This is what the World Pulse is all about and I sure can use it to become stronger.

I have a number of colleagues, friends and acquaintances who inspire me with what they do for self and others in my community. I go to these strong resources to remind me of the benefit, beauty and strength of the collective versus the individual. A lot more is possible, through the group effort, to build the individual and group. Inspiration comes from these individuals, the spaces in which they work and the changes resulting from their work.

Inspiration also comes from the many beautiful natural spaces that exist in my community. Nature, in all its forms, appeals to me and uplift my spirits. Each day I am consciously grateful for the sweet songs of the birds that wake up in the trees near my window. I am awed, amazed and inspired in thought and in spirit when I sit near the sea and listen to the waves lapping on shore. Each season of fruits that is harvested in my backyard or from a farm remind me of many resources and opportunities to build economic independence of women in my community.

I claim my space!

You are not only full of passion and great dreams,

there are also strength and energy that  radiate from your text; really nice, my sister.

There is truly an online database of information and resources that can help; it is good that  you combine multilingual and IT skills to access these.

I wish you great success.

Regards!

You go girl!  I was so impressed with your energy and feeling of empowerment.  I read all your past essays, and saw that in earlier ones you wrote of feeling frustrated by losing your job, and trying to decide if you had the courage to follow your convictions.  I see in this newest one that you are full of positive assurance, that with your skills and help from others, you can do what you want to achieve.  I see that you understand the power of networking with World Pulse as a very positive asset.  You are passionate and energetic and you are going to succeed!  I look forward to hearing what you do in the future!

Keep up the good work,

Barbara

Thank you for your inspirational sharing.

The beautiful way in which you described and outlined the "light" on your path that you are discovering via World Pulse and the pulling together with resourses to create a strength that acknowledges the individual, yet goes beyond to find strength in community, shines brightly.  Ever so brightly.

The gifts that you are discovering in regards to your assets are reflected in your love of nature and the joy of your every day appreciation in the sound of the birds and the voice of the ocean around you.  It was a joy to read your post, and to get such a clear picture of who you are!

I am moved by your personal insight and vision that you have for a world with economically independent women with strong, loving families. Your mission to utilize your skill set to contribute to bettering the world for women is passionate and clear.

Thank you for being such a bright light for all of us. Never stop being the value and benefit that you are! You make a difference!

Warmly, Veronica

Veronica:

Your feedback (reaction) to my post is exactly the kind of 'help' I seek from the sisters (and brothers) who are a part of World Pulse.  It is very useful for me as I move forward in what I do.

Thank you, Abigail

Girl, you do have assets!!

Having read your previous post describing your frustration at losing your job and your urge to do something entrepreneurial, it is so good to see your positive energy flowing through in this article. I suppose the secret asset of any successful entrepreneur would be their confidence and optimism. Keep this up!!

I loved your last sentence: "Each season of fruits that is harvested in my backyard or from a farm remind me of many resources and opportunities to build economic independence of women in my community". Great if you could inspire the women around you with this potential they have right in their backyard!

Look forward to tracking your progress.

Best regards,

Tejaswini
