2015 Reflection

Gender Based Violence

The past year has been a frightening one for many women in my country. Gender based violence reared its ugly head repeatedly. The ultimate, deadly result of Femicide was also real. How horrible to think these women did not have a chance to become part of the solution for change in 2016.

I want my voice to be a part of the solution. I am championing, wherever and whenever I can, the movement for a new form of masculinity – a nonviolent form – in heterosexual relationships. I am championing the movement for a new form of intimate partner engagement, regardless of the sexual orientation. I have an opportunity to make a difference in 2016.

We all have an opportunity in 2016 to make a difference in our individual lives and those around us. We have an opportunity to create an environment where individual women all over the world can find it possible to become empowered for themselves and their families.

What a powerful and beautiful intention to set for 2016. Thank you for calling out the pain of gender-based violence, and for being part of the healing. I look forward to reading more about your efforts to redefine masculinity and intimate partner engagement.

I echoe Kim's words. We have been successful in creating a momentum, and determination like yours is helping it grow. I too, look forward to more news from you. Putting the words masculunity and nonviolence together in one sentence is in itself an important concept to be spread far and wide.
