Art during the pandemic

"Letting go", May 2020 (1/2)

As we shut down for months, I found (and made!) time to come back to my paintbrushes.

Painting helped me redefine my role as a partner, a mother, in a time when being stuck at home felt both terrifying and a weird blessing.  I realized I felt trapped (hence a lot of windows), but also hopeful (hence a lot of windows :). Building a narrative of an emotion or thought through this art helped me digest it, and bathe in it, but also let it go. It brought me peace and serenity.

Here is one of the paintings I made during that time!

Hello Emily,
Your art is beautiful, and very realistic. I am glad to hear that it was needed and healing emotional outlet for you. I like the dual purpose the windows serve in the story. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Emily,
You are so talented. I can hear the howl and feel the slight irritation. I hope you will keep your paintbrush wet and share more.

It's amazing how the lockdown brought out a whole lot of potentials and ideas. Emily your art says a lot about aloneness, friendship, and the wonders of connecting with innate objects. lovely work.
