MY STORY

My name is Emily Oluga.I am twenty seven years old.Am a mother of one daughter called Bianca Janet.I live in Kenya Nairobi city in kibera slums

I live in a single roomed muddy house with no electricity.I got pregnant when I was 22yrs old when I was sex worker.I came from a poor family and hardly had nothing to put on the table.and that's when I decided to pack into sex business.

I can sincerely confess that up to date I don't know the father of my baby girl since I went to bed with many men.

I left the sex work business when I was five months pregnant and this was after being counselled and mentored with a group of five ladies from a certain organization .they encouraged me and gave me hope for new beginning and started a small business which I managed until I delivered.

I couldn't continue with my business after giving birth since I had used all the money with me and was left with nothing to start again.

After four months of delivery.I started something else which was Communiy Health Volunteer up to date.

I decided to create an impact to my community by mentoring young women who were into the same sex work business with me and they all got transformed.we are into groups whereby we meet and discuss our challenges and Way forward on issues affecting my community.

I am a mentor .I do creation of awareness, sensitization and educating my fellow ladies on dangers and risks of sex work.doing follow ups and referrals to People Living With HIV/AIDS.and identifying bed ridden clients and giving a helping hand.

I have transformed my community and we are getting along though the're are some challenges which am facing with my community.like there are no toilets in my surrounding thereby getting us into high risk chances of getting diseases such as cholera.

*Lack of funds and donors to support us.

Am very dedicated to my community and looking forward to see a fully transformed community free from unhealthy living especially now that technology is everything.

I am kindly pleading with any one from any part of the world or any organization to come in and give helping hand so that we can easily smoother our work.

Thanks so much to our lead mentor who introduced us to Worldpulse where we can raise our voices.
