Introducing myself and my journal: Community Media, Community Voice

About Me:
I am a video producer bringing 15 years of experience to helping the community to get their messages out...creating documentary and educational videos for non-profits, schools and governmental agencies.

I have come to believe that the first person narrative story is a powerful foundation for documentary, broadening perspectives and strengthening the global community through the shared experience of personal stories. My training with the Center for Digital Storytelling (www.storycenter.org) and extensive work in community media have allowed me to develop various storytelling techniques, and I have been able to put these techniques into practice by partnering with organizations to raise awareness about their work locally and internationally through video.

My favorite aspect of video production is helping bring these stories to life. I understand that creative storytelling techniques are key to good filmmaking, and fundamental to creating a powerful piece that will effectively get a lasting message across to the audience.
