Your Sweet Tooth: Not All in Your Head



Ever wonder why so many of us crave sweets, while others find it easy to just say no? You may be able to thank (or blame) your genes. Just as different ethnic groups vary in their perception of bitter taste, they also vary in their perception of sweetness, according to new research in Current Biology. Compared with Europeans, Asians and Africans were more likely to carry a gene variant that makes people less sensitive to sweetness, the study found.
