NLK Frontline effort to ensure women empowerment

As we are going to celebrate this MARCH 8, 2021- the international women’s day, we are honored to thank our grassroots women led organization NLK and their courageous women leaders at grassroots community for they have inspired several women to embrace innovation and creativity and leadership in their community. As the result of the relentless effort for women empowerment many women have transformed themselves from dependents to service providers in their communities. Some of these women have emerged as contributors when it comes to issues in their communities. They are catering to the needs of many deserving members of their community.

The NLK women promise to continue their commitment every day and everywhere   to ensure:

  1. Gender equality their grassroots communities/society
  2. Nonviolence in relationships and balanced power in relationships between women, men, boys and girls.
  3.  Reduced tolerance towards ignoring violence
  4. put social pressure on men to be more equitable;
  5. Provide support to activists speaking out.
  6.  Sharing decision making;
  7.  Sharing household responsibilities include child rearing,
  8. Improved quality of couple communication;
  9.  Respecting each other’s rights and power;
  10. Making commitments not to use violence and decrease in use experience of all forms of violence.

Last but not least, we would like to express, our heartfelt thanks, appreciation and gratitude to our international supporters including our world pulse team, community and Sisters for all of support, kindness, encouragement, solidarity with our grassroots women to enable them advance towards their deserved socio, economic and human rights.

Dear Erena,
Happy women's day to you and all the beautiful, resilient, nd resourceful women of Ethiopia! I love that NLK is working towards equality for women both outside the home and within the home. It is not very common in Africa to advocate for equal responsibilities between men and women inside the home, and to see NLK spearhead that shift in your country is encouraging. Good on you, and God's speed!

Dear Nini,
Happy women's Day!!
The power and energy you put to our effort and solidarity you show with us towards achieving the desired justice for our women/girls a driving force behind our commitment always , Thank you so much again. with appreciation and respect.

Happy Women's Day to you Erena! Your work with NLK is so inspiring. As Nini wrote, I love that you are working from the inside out, within families and households, this takes so much courage and is such crucial work, we cannot change on the outside if within is inequitable. I also love that you name and use non violence as a model! NLK has a great model for us to learn from. Thank you for sharing this, and thank you for being you in the world and doing and sharing this work with us, and the world.

Hugs from Montreal!
Adriana
