Salam Harmony; Weaving the peace political empowerment in Indonesia using ICT

Harmony greetings!
This is becoming more often heard in the social media recently, particularly among the group of Gender Harmony (GH) through Blackberry messengers (BBM), WhatApps; Public Policy Forum (PPF) Indonesia and Alumni graduates from United States of America; which a total covers more than thousands persons who stay in the country and abroad.

Indonesia political situation has attractive people from many levels and societies; the president election has just been performed on July 9, 2014. After the legislative election which conducted on 9 April 2014; the country attention and activities are being attracted to the choices and debates on who becomes the next President the 7th in Indonesia. The tension among people between choices to the two president and vice president candidates is inevitably blowing in the air up to now. Social media is utilized more often, including spreading choices between men and women for their favorite candidates; which also sometimes, if not to mention brought also emotional words and complaint in the internet. Supporting women's issues, including health, women's rights and migrant worker's situation are part of the consideration among women in the Gender Harmony (GH) group. While in the Public Policy Forum (PPF) the dialogues seems tend to be harder due to more men in the group who talk more and controlled the major opinion, including power and knowledge, while women are as usual, tend to be in the silence group. Very fortunate, Gender Harmony has a journey since 2010; which also introduced the idea of Indonesia Harmony to others for the unity of the nation and country. The political dialogues several times are noted hurt to some people, due to improper language, failed to maintain harmonious communication, arrogance, strong ambitions, lack of knowledge, misunderstanding and so on , and so on. The participants are adult from 25 years old and above from many parties, academia, government employees, privates, NGO, legislative members, executives, entrepreneurs etc.

In fact in a big country like Indonesia, people are vary - we have plurality that consists of many political parties, religions, ethnics, cultures, local leaders and so on. With various black campaign around, discrimination issues, power and intimidation feeling - it seems the country has 'too much noise\" from bottom and above. it goes up and down, right to left and vice versa. When tension was 'higher'; it is noted that the principles of harmony that being shared among members; has raised up the respect of everybody's rights, within proper communication to agreed country objectives and benefits and spirit of democracy. This has been accepted widely within those various groups (again, mostly by men; and this time more women showed up to express also their opinion ever since they know it is started by a woman, who brings up GH all of the time).
How do we know it works?

Soon after the posting; one by one, many men showed their thankful for their 'learning' aspect to the harmony principles.
The reading about GH lesson learns; has also being analog to the collaboration among parties and societies. It is easier to be understood; and by at once the relationship between men and women couldn't be denied expressed also the 'power relationship' of the supra and the sub-ordinance. However when testimonies showed that it could be fixed by harmonious process - many people seem agreed. They agreed totally that having happy family is important! Thus, whom having dedication and love to the country are easily being changed by themselves to ask apology and offer shake hands for 'the harmonious communication' in the future; no matter they are different. It is very famous then one phrase: \"agree to disagree\"; however keep the respect within the group (in peace and harmony).

Many of them eventually added specific notes on their postings: \"for harmony\", \"let's build harmonious living\", and put ' Harmony Greetings'! (Salam Harmony!) in the note! How nice! How sweet!
Remarkably noted as well, the president candidate no. 2 Joko Widodo when he got the number as his election number code; he said he treats the number 2 as a good sign; a harmony for Indonesia future! Since then the greeting is becoming famous as : Salam dua jari (Greetings of two fingers; exactly like the peace greetings). Without we realized, we have been communicated on politics and harmonious living over the nation very fast using ICT , I think almost 24 hours a day...!
Some of them shared pictures and encouragement as attached in this writing. Unity and People power are shown; no body can deny it. Picture is a thousand words! It weaves the nation!

With about 50% of voters are women, the ICT apparently has empowered most women in fast and safe manner - some women used it for personal consultation about politics that they rarely involved and heard before. GH gives neutral position to vote, however we have strong principles in building the harmony! The ICT truly weaves the women in political understanding. GH groups has higher executive and officials from the Ministry of Communication and Information, as well from political party and radio presenter. Women started to open web more often to get more news that has been discussed widely through out the nation via television, internet, radio and cyber groups. The past couple months are truly exited! It seems the word \"weave\" for the web / ICT is appropriately chosen; it weaved people; it made them empowered!
What has been contributed seems small, however to have peace and harmony afterwards brought up happiness for most people involved; they expressed it in their postings; it seems people understand respect better as well as building a harmonious living for each other in media communication. Everything in good intention, is always being blessed by God!

The election is not done yet; today is the time for announcement for the winner; however we all understand to create harmony we need to build respect each other either win or loose! Most people have a good control; the tension seems high though in hidden; particularly in the grassroots or some elite; however the military has showed their readiness to guard the people and the country. Several persons in elite have started admitting the winner; few parties are still keeping their hands closed. The predicted winner has instructed everybody to stay home, pray and watch the announcement from TV today. No excessive celebration, no more number 1 or 2, now is for Indonesia, the unity of nation and country!
It is hoped that any dispute may not happen; and Indonesia may have succession in peace and harmony!
