Re-building the Lives of Poor Communities

For a long time, women have formed groups and organizations within their communities to collectively solve common problems, to network, to share experiences, and to advocate for change. These groups have been physical groups configured around church associations, community and neighbourhood initiatives and professional interests. Female leadership has grown beyond lips and bounds and has brought women to the frontline to understand what role they have to play. Thanks to Women and development as an issue which has been on the international agenda since the 1970s.
In many of the poorest communities around the world and Africa in particular, the marginalized minority groups are living in rural areas. For example one of the most important challenges affecting poor communities is in the area of health. Many youths, adolescent girls, women and poor communities vulnerable to health hazards and are ignorant about their own Sexual and Reproductive Rights. My personal vision for my life is therefore to become a leading female activist where I can help in contributing and re-building the lives of poor women, adolescent girls/youths and impacting impoverished communities through female leadership. In becoming an activist is helping to advocate for a healthy generation, educating them on their Sexual and Reproductive Rights and their own rights to free and informed choices; by encouraging them to having access to digital media and the diversity of media content through the use of the latest forms of technology to network in an informed and globalized world. Again, being an activist will mean empowering these people through projects/programs (Capacity development) in orientating them in living their dreams and aspirations and lastly projecting education as a very important tool to transforming lives, promoting income generating activities and much more.
The Voices of the Future Correspondent helps to build and shape women in leadership and becoming a part of it will equally help me in realizing my vision by developing leadership capacity and advocacy initiative.
