I have been working mostly with grassroots communities for the past 5 years.
There is a fascinating experience that I will like to share with you what I have seen.
I have realized that dumping money and all the best gadgets and wisdom on people doesn't work.
I have realized that looking for what is lacking and being sad about what doesn't work leads to defeat.
I have realized that the resources that is needed to bring communities from the point they are to the point that they want to be is right inside those communities.
I have realized that theoretical knowledge will fail if you don't mix it with street-smart wisdom.
I have realized that community development isn't for the faint-hearted.
I have realized that you don't need all the grants in the world or the funding in the universe to make huge change happen.
I have realized that when you can change mindsets first, almost every other thing that you want to change will easy obey.
I have realized that the more you appreciate and celebrate the beauty, talent, skills, ingenuity and people living where you intend to work, the better your outcomes.
I have realized that if you do community development or set up initiatives just to take pictures, post online and get comments, you will get frustrated and tired very soon.
I have realized that you need to have a genuine heartfelt love for people to work with people of different language, culture, beliefs, taste, style, life and experience.
I have realized that community development teaches you everything you never imagined and it brings unexpected outcomes.
I have realized that flexibility and the ability to listen to even unspoken words will help you scale through and create the possibility that you never imagined.
Keep inspiring possibilities, don't stop.
The world has been waiting for you. Now is the time to learn, grow, build, inspire and sparkle. #YouAreLimitless
