A problem shared is a problem half solved

There are a lot of things I find exciting about 2.0 however, the one which sweeps me off my feet is the fact that women from all over the world are allowed to express themselves freely online and also meet with people from various geographical locations and cultures who share the same views about life without being judged.

Having looked at the various projects carried out by 2.0, such as ‘Raising awareness of the torture in Egypt’ (Noha Atef), through social media networks, as well as fund raising support programmes and training schemes, it is clear that something positive has come out of this forum.
2.0 has helped in enlightening the globe about practices regarding women thereby serving as a voice to the voiceless. It has brought women together sharing their ideas both similar and diverse which has helped in keeping their dreams alive. 2.0 has also built the capacity of women through the various training programs offered as well as helping women overcome silence.
Furthermore, it has solved a number of community problems through the members of this group this I find the most encouraging and take into consideration the Chinese Proverb which states “If you educate a man you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman you educate a nation” Dr. James Emmanuel Kwegyir-Aggrey.
In addition, training women professionally to tell their own stories helps to solve the problem of misinterpretation by a third party that may not fully understand the situations as well as the locals going through the system.
Finally, the digital tools made available for women in their homes breaks the boundaries for most women who are talented but have but have no means of sharing these or building on these skills because of the way the system is run in their geographical locations.
All these are a source of motivation for us as a community in sharing the word and building the bridges.

Through 2.0 I strongly believe I would have the opportunity to be transformed into a stronger person and live my dreams of helping girls in the rural communities in parts of Nigeria who are forced to drop out of school due to pregnancy as a result of the system punishing the girls for getting pregnant while the men go free. I believe that through the social networks in 2.0, I will be able to get ideas on how to kick-start a model that will assist these young girls in changing the rules of the system and also provide counseling for young girls in rural areas.
In conclusion I would say that the benefits of 2.0 proceeds in unlocking the potential of women globally.
