Skeletons in the Closet

The smell of alcohol fills the air, Peeping through the door a feeling of despair. Where can she hide from this heartless soul? Looking for a Prey, to settle the score.

He hides in the shadows of strange magic, Performing his ritual unseen and tragic. At night he waits for the house to sleep, Then silently wades and begins to peep.

When the time is right, he opens the door, Creeps to the bedside, she is only four. Awaken abruptly by a strong-gripped hand The room turned black, the pain played like a band

The lies he tells, always goes his way, Who would listen to her, confined not to say. A tell-tale or two with a sarcastic grin, Figures of speech turn to sin.

Confusion brings tears, longing for attention, As it is written, was it their intention. Speaking up, only makes the mouth bleed, Wetting the bed, becomes mockery at heed.

Everyone would know, by word of mouth A cut through the heart, a taunting scout Saying the right words to set his escape And back he would come, in holistic state

I will kill you if you tell a soul, A finger to his mouth and continues his goal. Can you see him, why so blind? Right in front of you, read between the line.

A home is a blessing a playground of joy Close the gaps and make it loyal, Allow for fairness, do not discriminate Blood or not, save and illuminate

Wilt if you must the voices keep saying, Now a teen and the record keep's playing. She must escape, she must find a way, To deal with the skeletons, it’s a mascaraed

Fleeing the house and running away, Only in circles, stranded and astray. A black Sheep created, immaculately, Cast that strange magic, doubtfully.

She built walls as high as the clouds, To shut out the noise bellowing so loud. Suffer in silence and adapt fake love, Patiently waiting for that white dove.

When Karma finds its way, unknowingly, Peace aligns the stars to save only she. For Gods plan will unfold and truth revealed,  Only if you standup and make that plea.

For others afraid in shame and trauma, We must speak up to change the drama. A reminder note, ‘it was never my fault’ Carved in her mind, wrapped in a vault.

They Lurk in shadows and roam, Spotting weaknesses in a home. A vulnerable link, a friend nor foe Watch your children from head to toe

When it gets too much with no control, Strings are all broken a life is gone. Taken by oneself to save the cost, The shame and frustration let all be lost.

Memoirs linger one never forgets, It paints a picture of regrets. Heal through self- love by God’s amazing grace, He sees all, so stay strong in the race.

Hello Beautiful Sister ,
Thank you for sharing your
Poems with us , you are not alone , I stand with survivors because no one should be made to feel like they deserve abuse .It's time to rise up and speak up . You are loved .

Hello, Fenella,

How tragic this story is. I feel mixed emotions right now, anger for the perpetrator, and empathy for the child, and so much more in between. That's the kind of poet you are, dear.

These two paragraphs stand out to me,

"For others afraid in shame and trauma,
We must speak up to change the drama.
A reminder note, ‘it was never my fault’
Carved in her mind, wrapped in a vault."

"Memoirs linger one never forgets, It paints a picture of regrets.
Heal through self- love by God’s amazing grace,
He sees all, so stay strong in the race."

Hugs, sisters. Keep those poetries coming! You can compile them into a book one day.

The title caught my attention. While the topic is unpleasant, the story was beautifully written. Thanks for sharing
