CONDUCTING PEACEFUL ELECTIONS IN UGANDA

As Uganda heads to elections in 2021, the electoral commission decides to hold them as scientific elections and currently, most of the politicians have started their campaigns in different regions of the country.

As a peace activist in Uganda, there are so many demonstrations that are going on and these are led by mostly the youths who say they are "against the current leadership that is led by president Museveni and the only option they are looking at is use of violence" to have power transition and this has forced the Uganda police to come in and act.  With such acts led by the youths is causing a number of deaths and yet these campaigns have just started, so the question is how many dear lives will end up being lost due to such violence that is led by the youths.

Most of these youths are those that are highly unemployed though some are educated while others are not, they feel they have no hope and are idle, they feel the government of Uganda has been unfair to them and therefore they believe in violence means as a way of getting what they want and with their acts, this will be a source of instability in the country and where there is no peace, the economy is affected and everything is put on hold.

I therefore call upon different stake holders like religious leaders, NGOS, community leaders and youths to come up and promote peaceful elections because I believe we can have one family and a peaceful transition of power.
