Concerned with increasing cases of women abuse

Women in my community experience various forms of violence and they have no means to protect themselves.
Just recently, a woman close to my home was involved in a case that will remain in my mind for a long time and will save as a reminder that women should take action to stop violence being perpetrated on them.
This woman is married and has two children. It was not a happy family they were always fighting because the husband had a girlfriend.
The woman always asked why the husband was behaving in such a manner and he would respond by shouting at her and telling her that she was nothing.
As time went by the husband stopped coming home, spending more time away with his girlfriend. The woman decided that the situation was out of control and she also got into an affair with another man. She was traumatized by the abusive husband and started to ill-treat her own children to punish the husband
